HOWTO: Nikon D100 Firmware Version 2 Download and Update

Update the hardware to firmware version 2. The process takes a few minutes. The first file is the firmware loader which is responsible for installing the actual firmware update in the camera.

Do not turn the camera off while updating!

 Requirements:

 

  1. Insert the CompactFlash card into the camera and format the card.
  2. Remove the CompactFlash card from the camera and insert it into the computer.
  3. Copy the loader file, L100200_.BIN, to the CompactFlash card’s root directory.
  4. Turn the camera off
  5. Remove the CompactFlash card from the computer and insert it into the camera.
  6. Press and hold the Monitor and Enter key on the camera while turning it ON.
  7. The update begins, the following LCD screen appears.

  8. When the update is complete, the following LCD screen appears. 
    Firmware finished
  9. Turn the camera OFF then back ON.
  10. Format the card.
  11. Remove the CompactFlash card from the camera and insert it into the computer.
  12. Copy the loader file, R100200C.BIN, to the CompactFlash card’s root directory.
  13. Turn the camera OFF
  14. Remove the CompactFlash card from the computer and insert it into the camera.
  15. Press and hold the Monitor and Enter key on the camera while turning it ON.
  16. The update begins, the following LCD screen appears.

  17. When the update is complete, the following LCD screen appears.
    Firmware finished
  18. Done.
